The Actor’s Body & Their Self Care

This workshop applies The Body Book & Self-Landscaping process to actors.

In this workshop you will:

  • Trace the actor’s life from birth to present day from an embodied perspective by exploring the story telling of your own body.
  • Recognize the depth-psychological embodied dimension of the mind/body connection by looking at life events, personal myth and dreams.
  • Increase awareness of the imaginal realm to discover the story you are living.
  • Engage in the process of Self-Landscaping identifying lived archetypes, using embodied writing, collage and dream work to create a foundation of mind/body awareness as a vehicle for self-care.

This offering will be held over the course of a three weeks for two hours once a week. Due to COVID this class will be held online via zoom until further notice.

This course is for you if:

  • You are an actor, or have an interest in actor training and well-being.
  • You are interested in the archetypal patterns and the personal myth you are living and differentiating between yours and exploring those of a character.
  • You are ready to open up a fresh dialogue with the body of both self and character.

You will complete this course:

  • Able to embody your personal story by integrating physical, archetypal, textural, and imaginative resources.
  • Prepared to enter into taking on the role of a character with a comprehensive understanding of who you are first and foremost in this moment of your story prior to taking on the ‘other.’
  • Able to cultivate the necessary self-awareness in the your body to develop the physical, emotional, psychological, and mental resources to withstand the demands of a professional career as an actor, and the ability to sustain and harness those resources.
